“Over the Moon” man acquitted of assault charge

A man from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area represented by Stephen Lee was today acquitted of an assault after a trial at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

Under the pressure of cross-examination by Steve, both prosecution witnesses gave evidence inconsistent with the statements they had given to police officers.  So incensed was one of the witnesses when he was caught out by this that he completely lost his temper in the court room.

The magistrates were unimpressed and said they could not be sure the defendant had committed the offence and therefore found him not guilty.

Following the hearing the defendant said that he was “over the moon” with the representation and support he had received throughout proceedings and said he would ‘wholeheartedly recommend Sheppards’ to anyone he knew.
