Sentence ruled manifestly excessive by Appeal Court Judges

Mark Nicholls appeared by before the Royal Courts of Justice, London on the 23rd October 2014 and successfully appealed against a sentence of 18 months imprisonment imposed at Stafford Crown Court.

The client had earlier pleaded guilty to an offense of causing grievous bodily harm.

The Court of Appeal judges agreed with the submission that the sentence was excessive and that the sentencing judge had wrongly applied the guidelines for an offence of that type.

The sentence was reduced by a third.
